에헤야서울 카페를 디자인할 때, 저는 ‘따뜻한 한국적 감성’을 현대적으로 풀어내고자 했습니다.
오래된 구옥을 리모델링한 공간의 특성을 살려,
과거와 현재가 자연스럽게 공존하는 분위기를 만들고 싶었고, 그래서 빈티지 가구와 한국적 오브제를 조화롭게 배치했습니다.
한국적인 요소들이 어느 나라의 디자인과도 조화롭게 어울릴 수 있다는 메시지를 담고 싶었어요.

When designing Ayheya Seoul Café, I aimed to reinterpret warm Korean sensibility in a contemporary way.
Embracing the character of the old house,I sought to create a space where past and present coexist naturally.
Vintage furniture and Korean objects were carefully paired to express how Korean aesthetics can harmonize
with designs from any culture.
From the rooftop, traditional hanok rooftops meet modern architecture —
a contrast that feels unexpected yet beautifully cohesive —
a view that deeply resonates with the identity of the space.

에헤야서울 카페는 바쁜 일상 속 잠시 머무르며 따뜻한 순간을 느낄 수 있는 공간이 되길 바라는 마음으로 만들어졌습니다.
전면 철거가 아닌, 건물 개조 과정에 직접 참여하며 더 이상 구할 수 없는 오래된 벽돌을 살리고 새로운 소재를 더하는 방식으로,
오늘 우리의 삶처럼 과거와 현재가 켜켜이 쌓여 이어지는 감정을 담아냈습니다.

Ayheya Seoul Café was created with the hope that people could pause, rest, and feel small warm moments i
n the midst of their busy days.
Rather than demolishing the building entirely, I took part in the renovation process myself,
preserving rare old bricks and layering new materials on top —
reflecting the way our lives are built,
with layers of past and present gently stacked together.
